Meet Ally, a vibrant and outgoing student who loves modeling and is a competitive travel cheerleader. I met Ally for her session outside Union Station in St. Louis during Shutterfest '21, and was able to capture some amazing photos that the she and her Mom absolutely loved.
Despite the limited time we had for the photoshoot at SF, I must say that I was amazed by Ally's fashion style and her ability to take direction. These qualities will help her go far with her modeling career, and work with varied photographers to create the vision for a session.
Ally is excited to start middle school next year. When she isn't in school or participating in sports, she likes to draw because it allows her to express herself. She said that ART is good for the soul, and compared it to modeling, another form of self-expression through portraits. Although time may pass, she will always have the memories to look back on. Music is also a form of expression for Ally. She likes all music, depending on her mood.
She is particularly proud of her outspokenness and her ability to interact with people, because it is something that she had to work on and develop over time. It has helped her overcome nerves during modeling shows and make new friends.
Ally has been fortunate enough to travel to different places due to her modeling career. She had been to New York for Fashion Week and traveled to California and Hawaii in 2020. The industry kept her busy and took her to different states, but if she could travel anywhere, she would like to go to Paris after the pandemic.
If Ally had an unexpected free day, she would love to sleep in and go roller skating. And even though she is a self-described foodie, she would spend her free day eating junk food!
Ally described herself as outgoing, sassy, competitive, silly, and vibrant. Her college and career goals are to get into Parsons Fashion School in upstate New York and run her own agency one day in New York.
I absolutely loved the taupe colored gown on her, and as soon as I saw the fullness I knew I wanted to take Ally up to the bridge where you can see the tower of Union Station, and have her do some twirls!
Ally is an active member of her church, and I was impressed by her strong faith, something we both share in common. When I asked her to share her biggest worry/fear, she said it was that "the world is getting worse and worse. So I have to put my faith in Christ! But being human and a tween, I still get frazzled and rocked when I see different events going on throughout the current times."
One of my goals was to capture images of Ally on the street with the famous St. Louis arch in the background, and you are able to see it in the first image here.
When Ally's mom asked her if she would recommend The Proof Photography to her friends or family members looking for a photographer in the Louisville area, she answered with a resounding yes. She was absolutely thrilled with her portrait experience and rated it a 5 out of 5. She appreciated the direction I gave her during the session, and in her own words:
"I loved working with Jill at Shutterfest although our time was short she rocked our session as an awesome photographer! She really knows her stuff and is great with pose and giving direction. She has a creative imagination and can come up with stuff right on the fly. Loved working with her and absolutely am a big fan of her photography. Thank you Jill!" - Ally
Ally has 4 siblings. 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I also had the privilege of photographing her sister Mariah, and I just love this portrait I took of the two girls hugging one another. They also share their house with a dog named Diesel, a pit bull terrier who she says is the cutest dog ever and a big baby who is spoiled with lots of love and kindness.
In fact, when I asked Ally her greatest wish/hope/dream, she said she just wanted everyone to love one another and be kind. With so much going on in the world right now, she would wish for everyone to get along and for the pandemic to end. Ally said, "[there is] so much ugly and mean going on right now" and even though it's been more than a year since she wrote those words, I still think they are true and we have a long way yet to go.
In conclusion, I enjoyed working with Ally and appreciated her vibrant and outgoing personality. Despite the limited time we had, she was a natural in front of the camera and posed like a pro. I'm glad she had an amazing portrait experience and would recommend The Proof Photography to anyone in the Louisville area looking for a photographer.
