I absolutely adore the family I’m blogging about today. My earliest photographs of the Nolan family are from strawberry picking at Huber’s 9 years ago – long before I was a professional photographer! Throughout the years I have pictures of the Nolan kids from playdates, parties, and performances with my own children. When I look back on the photos from those early days, I can’t believe how much the children have grown and changed since I first met them. What is even more surprising to me is how much their oldest girl changed in just one year.
That is why I implore you, parents of teens, to get portraits EVERY year while your children are growing. You will be amazed at the difference one year can make!
I’m lucky enough to say that over the years, the Nolans and the Nissens have become such good friends. I admire Caren for her creativity and for her generosity. She is always crafting up some handmade gifts for her kids’ classmates and teachers! She also plans such fun parties with delicious goodies and homemade cakes. I distinctly remember her hosting a fun Bunco Moms’ Night Out at her house for our MOPS group!
Both Caren and Robert are Godly parents who demonstrate their love and dedication to their children and family. What can I say? I love being around them!
When Caren called me to take their family photos again, I immediately began looking forward to our session! Caren chose the location close to their home and we met up on a beautiful October afternoon at Saint James’ Episcopal Church in Pewee Valley, Kentucky. It was my first time photographing there and I loved the historic location with a variety of different backdrops. The colors that they chose for their outfits were perfect not only for a fall session, but also because their wardrobe coordinated very well with the red doors of the church!
The day of their session turned out to be absolutely gorgeous, which was pretty amazing considering the weather we had been having recently in Louisville. When the cows showed up in the pasture, we all took a break and I just marveled at their laughter and joy.
I couldn’t wait to show Caren and Robert the final images at their slideshow reveal in their home. As I watched their reaction, what should I happen to see in the corner of my eye, but the photos I took of their family during last year’s session, framed and displayed in their home. What an honor! And as for their reaction, they loved them!
