Fall is a popular time for family photos in Louisville Kentucky for many reasons. I call it the Goldilocks season because the weather is (finally!) not too hot, not too cold, just RIGHT! I think we had exceptional weather for Fall 2022 making it absolute perfection for photos, as you can see in this lovely Louisville Family photo session by the lake.
I love to get outdoors with my families, and capture the beautiful colors of fall. This year, the warm dry weather produced a rainbow of fall colors in the trees, and these are quickly turning to blankets of leaves on the ground! Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular too, and one of my children's favorite activities is "chasing the sunset" with me to get the best views.
I stopped in my tracks when I saw this lush, green bush with beautiful red berries. Since this photo session was for the family Christmas Card, I knew this would be the perfect backdrop. As you can see, I directed them to hold a branch, and pull it towards their face. One way I create posed photos that look natural and relaxed is to give my subjects something to do with their hands!
Mom did a great job of coordinating everyone's clothing without appearing too "matchy matchy." If you are wondering what to wear for YOUR family photo session, check out this blog post for ideas! What to Wear for Fall Family Photos.
I think an important part of a family session is getting photos of Mom & Dad together without any kids - after all, that is where family begins!
Of course at some point, I also like to make sure we get the Mommy & Me and Daddy & Me photos - each kid alone with Mom, and each kid alone with Dad.
These twin brother and sister were so precious and photogenic. Can you believe the amazing variety of photos we were able to capture in just 30 minutes?! A short and sweet photo session may be just what your family needs to update your photos annually and create some great photo gifts for grandparents and other family members.
I am so thankful for my amazing clients who make my job fun! As you can see, we had a lot of laughs and the kids truly enjoyed their photo session. And as we all know, that helps Mom and Dad to relax too. My years of teaching experience, as well as being a mom myself, have taught me a trick or two or three :) Is it time for YOU to book your family photos?
